Japan's High School Diplomat

CATEGORYDP
This summer, I was accepted into the 2014 High school diplomats program as one of the lucky 40 highschoolers out of the 804 applicants to represent Japan. From July 20 to August 11, I went to the United States, and visited the Pentagon, State department and other places in Washington DC, Virginia for homestay. In New York, we visited the Statue of Liberty, United Nations, IMF, and volunteered at Harlem. Finally, we stayed at Princeton University with 40 American students for 10 days for an exchange program. We experienced both the entertainment and political institutions of the United States. Meeting so many people has increased my global awareness as a representative of my country. It made me also consider how I can contribute to the world as a global citizen in the future.
