CATEGORYHigh School
Teachers from India, Indonesia, Australia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Taiwan, Hungary, Philippines, Brazil, Vietnam, Malaysia, Mongolia, Romania, Russia sponsored by Hakuho foundation visited Katoh Gakuen Gyoshu High School last November 21.
The school had a welcome ceremony where students did presentations about the school, Japanese culture and others. The teachers also presented interesting information about their countries to the junior high school students. After lunch, the teachers stayed with one Junior high class and students had them try various Japanese traditional games. The students also made presentations about a topic specific to Japan. Then, the Gyoshu teachers shared a discussion time for an hour with the teachers from 14 countries. The topic varied from the unique cultures of each school systems to the technology related students' friendship issues and behavior problems risen from it.
This was an eye-opener experience for all of Gyoshu students and teachers because the language used for the communication was not English but Japanese. Students get to know more how Japan is perceived among young people outside of Japan. Overall, the students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed this experience,
